YouthAware - New Conservatory Theater Center v ---

Playwright Andrew Jordan Nance (he/him) has been an educator since 1990. He is the author of the bestselling  book Puppy Mind, as well as the critically acclaimed books, The Barefoot King, The Lion in Me and Mindful Arts in the Classroom.  He is the founder of Mindful Arts San Francisco; an organization that provides volunteer mindfulness educators to teach in San Francisco public schools. For almost thirty years he taught performing arts to students from diverse backgrounds, and for eighteen years he was the Conservatory Director at San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theatre Center.  He is the recipient of the Points of Light Award, a national honor recognizing his volunteer efforts to bring mindfulness to youth. 


Director Nikki Meñez (she/they) is a director, creator, and arts administrator born and raised on unceded Ohlone territory of the SF Bay Area. They are on staff as Program Director for YouthAware Educational Theatre & Casting Associate and have directed many different YouthAware productions over the years. Nikki is excited to be able to continue to direct and produce for young audiences in response to ever-evolving times. Featured directing credits include The Law of Attraction the radio play by Patricia Milton (NCTC), The Gay Divorce Play by Carson Becker & Nicole Jost (Queer Cat Productions), & In the Heights by Quiara Alegría Hudes & Lin-Manuel Miranda (Custom Made).
