Youth Programs

Students at NCTC have the advantage of a year-round conservatory theatre training system, designed specifically for young people. They have the opportunity to learn acting skills, stage movement, musical theatre, play writing, audition techniques, technical theatre and theatre management in our state-of-the-art facility. The New Conservatory Theatre Center admits students regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, color, national or ethnic origin.

For young people aged 5-12, NCTC schedules after-school and Saturday classes during the school year. Students are introduced to creative self expression and discovery processes. A combination of storytelling, creative movement, play-acting, improvisational and scripted theatre activities all add up to an exciting approach to learning while encouraging the development of interpersonal life skills.

The New Conservatory Theatre Center's Teen Program is for students ages 13-18 who want to study acting and fine tune their craft. The program is designed to facilitate comprehensive performing arts instruction for dedicated students and young professionals. The sessions may focus on improvisation, scene study, directing, performance technique, musical theatre, play writing, voice/speech and screen acting. Class size is limited to just 18 students.

Summer Programs for Youth & Teens

NCTC Daycamps for ages 9 - 12 are perfect for the aspiring actor, or those looking for a fun theatre experience! Two three-week long day camps are offered where students learn to Act, Sing and Dance. This fun, dynamic class will bring out the performer in you!

NCTC's Teen Summer Ensemble & Teen Summer Stock (for ages 12-18), students perform full-scale plays, complete with costumes and props on designed sets. You’ll rehearse one or two shows and get the thrill of performing it. Programs are five weeks long. Recent productions have included Aladdin, Rumpelstiltskin, Macbeth, and The Crucible.

Family Matinee Series

For the K through 5th grade age-group The New Conservatory produces an annual series of popular children's plays and musicals such as Robin Hood, Cinderella, Treasure Island and Really Rosie. Our Family Matinee Series plays are well-known for their artistic quality and always share the high standards that distinguish The New Conservatory's main stage productions.

  • NCTC provides qualified teaching artists with a B.A. and/or M.A. in Theatre.
  • 10% family discount or for taking two or more classes.
  • Eligible families may receive scholarships for all programs. Payment plans available.
  • On the last class day of each session, parents and friends are invited to a final presentation to view student work.
  • Private Coaching available for high school/college auditions and interviews.
  • Students 10 and older are invited to audition for professional productions.
  • Casting directors look to NCTC students for upcoming theatre, film and TV productions.
  • Teaching Assistantships and Internships are also available for teen
