DO YOU KNOW A CENTRAL VALLEY SCHOOL THAT COULD BENEFIT FROM A YOUTHAWARE PROGRAM?

NCTC's YouthAware Anti-Bullying Tours have received funds from the James Irvine Foundation for the Central Valley. Can You Help Hook Us Up? If any of you are middle or high school alums or know people in this area we need your help to bring our plays OutSpoken and The Other Side of the Closet to stop the violence and any further LGBT teen suicides. If you have any connections at a Central Valley middle or high school that could lead to a potential YouthAware booking, please let us know! It's the personal contact that will make all the difference in our more conservative California communities.

Email YouthAware program director Sara Staley at sara@nctcsf.org with any info.

Based directly on the voices of today's young people, OutSpoken is a drama for teens that looks at the many reasons young people feel ostracized in school, at home, and in their communities including race, religion, sexual orientation, body type, and socioeconomic background. OutSpoken helps teens think about labeling and diversity within their communities. Through OutSpoken, we hope young people will find new ways to move past these differences to a place of real tolerance and understanding.
