AUDITIONS

The New Conservatory Theatre Center is pleased to announce auditions for their 2009-2010 Pride Season production of Beautiful Thing, by Jonathan Harvey.

 About the show : This ten-year anniversary production of the NCTC U.S. stage premiere tells the timeless story about two working class London teenage boys who fall in love.

Casting the following roles (Non-AEA ONLY—all ethnicities are highly encouraged to audition) :Jamie : almost sixteen, an average looking young man .,Leah : Jamie’s neighbor, sixteen, attractive. ,Sandra : Jamie’s Mother, roughly around thirty-five. ,Ste : another neighbor, also sixteen. Attractive/athletic young man. ,Tony : Sandra’s young man, twenty-seven. Middle class trying to rough up.

Those auditioning for the roles of Jamie, Leah and Ste must be 18 and older and should be able to play high-school age.

When :   General Auditions :July 28 th, 2009, 7-10pm (expect to be at the entire audition until you are released) , ( based on submission approval)

Callbacks : August 4 th, 2009 , 7-10pm ,(at director’s request)

Prepare : Scenes and Monologues will be given to you when you confirm your audition .

The New Conservatory Theatre Center’s (NCTC) YouthAware Educational Theatre program has been entertaining and educating young people for over two decades with innovative & age-appropriate theater-in-education programs. Topics covered include HIV prevention, diversity, homophobia, body image, bullying and school safety.  

YouthAware is seeking actor/educators for our educational/social issue plays for grades K-12 that are produced throughout the school year.  Several programs go on tour to Northern California schools, and some are performed at our theater facility at NCTC. There is some pay and transportation is provided for touring. Most programs only require day trips to local schools. There is the potential for overnight travel or community performances usually on Monday or Tuesday evenings.

Actors must read as high school age or younger and be available to rehearse and perform weekdays during the day. Auditions are by appointment only. YouthAware cast members will also be trained to facilitate post-show discussions with students audiences. For consideration, please submit your headshot & resume to sara@nctcsf.org.

NCTC is looking for interested volunteers to help with audience development, ushering, educational programs, administrative and technical departments.

All volunteers are supervised by a staff member and training for your job will be provided. Hours are flexible but your reliability is crucial. There are some intern training positions available for High School and College students. For more information call 415-861-4914.
