JOB OPPORTUNITY - Marketing Director

New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, hands-on Marketing Director to help move the company into the next phase of our Strategic Plan.

The Marketing Director is responsible for the development of NCTC’s long range and annual marketing and communications strategy.  This position leads the creation and implementation of NCTC’s annual marketing/communications plan and audience development initiatives, and is responsible for the overall NCTC image via marketing and advertising which includes design of print and electronic collateral, maintenance of NCTC website and customer e-mail databases, cross-promotions, administrative and special event support. This position requires adaptability, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, board and NCTC’s diverse audiences.

NCTC Mission:

The mission of the New Conservatory Theatre Center is to champion innovative, high quality productions & educational theatre experiences for youth, artists, and the queer & allied communities to effect personal & societal growth, enlightenment and change.

Overview:          

The Marketing Director is responsible for the development of NCTC’s long range and annual marketing and communications strategy.  This position leads the creation and implementation of NCTC’s annual marketing/communications plan and audience development initiatives.

The Marketing Director is responsible for the overall NCTC image via marketing and advertising which includes design of print and electronic collateral, maintenance of NCTC website and customer e-mail databases, cross-promotions, administrative and special event support. The position supervises the Box Office & Patron Services Manager. This position requires adaptability, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, board and NCTC’s diverse audiences. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1.       Planning

a.       Collaborates with Executive Director to create long-range strategy for marketing/communications and audience development

b.      Under the guidance of the Executive Director, creates and implements annual marketing and communications plan

c.       Develops a unified communications plan to clearly articulate the NCTC brand across all NCTC programs and initiatives

d.       Research the attitudes and opinion of NCTC students, patrons, and community partners as they relate to the company and its offerings. 

e.      Supervises the Box Office/ Patron Services Manager.

 

2.      Marketing, Community Engagement and  Stewardship

a.      Maintains the NCTC web site and social media presence

b.      Creates all collateral digital and print material for productions, classes, fund development and special events. (e.g. Brochures, playbills, ads, e-vites, posters, social media, etc)

c.       Creates and implements marketing strategy for growing the single ticket, subscription and student enrollment base.

d.      Provides content and maintains lobby screens, marquees, and poster placements.

e.      Actively supports community engagement and audience development initiatives

f.        Plans & hosts Opening night, Pride and Season Announcement parties in association with the Director of Development

 

3.       Supporting the Activities of the Department

a.       Leads weekly Marketing team meetings

b.      Attends Staff meetings.

c.       Manages Department budget

d.      Supports  PR efforts and social media campaigns

e.      Oversees and guides Box Office and Patron Services

f.        Attends parties and donor events.

g.       Attend first production meeting and cast table read

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA degree and 3-4 years of experience in marketing or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Nonprofit and/or theatre experiences a plus.
  • Have experience with MS Word, Excel, Wintix, Salesforce, Photoshop, Constant Contact, Facebook, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with online marketing and social media
  • Superior verbal and written skills; detail oriented
  • Superb communication and people skills; exercises good judgment, diplomacy and tact
  • Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize projects
  • Ability to utilize general office equipment, move from place to place, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, reach, bend, twist, grasp, etc.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic for developing, achieving and then exceeding goals.
  • Have the capacity to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment that requires responsiveness and attention to detail.
  • Fully support the mission of NCTC.

This position requires availability on evenings and weekends.

About the show:  Watch out for flying saucers! Backstabbing Bitches! Muscle hunks and men in pumps! Wake up and smell the alien invasion in Lizard Lick, Florida.

YouthAware Auditions

NCTC's YouthAware program seeks talented actor/educators with daytime availability who can play high school age or younger. Actors cast in YouthAware programs are also trained to participate in facilitating post-show discussions with student audiences. These are paid positions (stipend non-negotiable) contracted on a per show basis. Some experience working with youth is preferred. YouthAware Educational Theatre offers actors a unique opportunity to educate young people about issues like HIV prevention, homophobia, diversity, respect, school safety, etc. through live theater.

YouthAware: NCTC's YouthAware Educational Theatre Program is seeking Stage Managers. The YouthAware program educates young people about hard-hitting issues like homophobia, diversity, HIV prevention, etc. through live theater. The YouthAware program seeks Stage Managers with daytime availability, a valid CA Driver's License, and a good driving record for programs both at NCTC and on tour to middle and high schools throughout Northern California from September 2011 - May 2012. All rehearsals and most performances are weekdays during the day. There is minimal overnight travel & evening performances required for some programs. These are paid positions contracted on a per show basis. Some experience working with youth is preferred.

 VOLUNTEERS

NCTC is looking for interested volunteers to help with audience development, ushering, educational programs, administrative and technical departments.

All volunteers are supervised by a staff member and training for your job will be provided. Hours are flexible but your reliability is crucial. There are some intern training positions available for High School and College students. For more information call 415-861-4914.
